Good afternoon everyone,

Attached is an interesting article on how to NOT grow future leaders.

Leaders should plan the professional development programs for their leadership team systematically, thoughtfully and proactively. I could not agree more. Promoting quickly by reacting to a particular situation such as rapid growth, employees resigning, or simply because the person has the « technical skills », doesn’t always translate into great leaders. Unfortunately, I have seen this happen dozens of times over the years and being reactive vs. being proactive is more often than not, very costly to companies.

There are traditional ways to develop leaders such as leadership programs, mentoring programs, formal education, etc. However, speaking from experience, a customized individual coaching program is an excellent way to get results rapidly.
